Sophomores Test Hovercrafts At UMAC

Teacher James Granger prepares to push 3 sophomore girls sitting on a hovercraft device using a shop vaccum.

Sophomores in physcial science classes taught by teachers James Granger and Chad McKee tested out "hovercrafts" using shop vacuums and boards at the UMAC today.

Students inserted the vacuum hose into a small hole in the round board. When the vacuum is turned on, the student and board rise off the floor and, if given a push, appears to float down the floor.

The exercise was the culminating activity as part of a study of Isaac Newton's theory on universal graviation and motion.
